The world around us is getting very dark. It feels like we are always on the brink of disaster … at least, somewhere out there.
We spent this Easter remembering not just what Jesus did and how he suffered, but also, especially, how he rose from the dead in order to give us eternal life.
That said, we also took the opportunity to relax and enjoy time as a family. Rather than wait until Sunday, we put candy out on Good Friday, to be enjoyed all weekend. The ham and deviled eggs, were made on Friday as well, and nibbled on all weekend. Protein is always a great snack! The bunny cake was cut when we brogiught it home Friday, because it was from Federhofer’s and was amazing! 😍😍

On Saturday we took time to relax and recharge, but it brought up a lot of thoughts. Jesus was in the tomb, and I can’t imagine that kind of sadness. Knowing the darkness that surrounds you and the man you know to be the savior is dead. That Saturday…the profound sadness. Did the disciples lose hope? We know how the story ends. For that reason, we should never lose hope. We are still surrounded by darkness, but we have peace because we are not hopeless.
So on Easter Saturday, our kids enjoyed a slow day of no responsibilities, Rich worked on his music (which you can listen to here), and I made lots of food. I am thankful for the hope!
Being in a good frame of mind helped us celebrate an empty grave on Sunday morning. Our oldest served alongside her friends and our youngest ditched us to sit with her friends. 🙂 The best thing? We were all at peace, celebrating the resurrection of our Saviour. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. I think THAT is the peace that surpasses all understanding. The peace you find in the midst of the chaos and darkness outside—the peace you can only find peace in your own home.
Happy Easter, all! He is risen, Alleluia!
